Tonight on MKR we are in Melbourne again for Court and Duncan’s ultimate instant restaurant “Gastro turf”.
The menu for tonight:
Entree- Snapper Asparagus and Mussel Butter
Entree- Venison, Smoked Labne and Blackberries
Main- Chicken, Cauliflower Rice, Charred Carrots
Main- Pepperberry Roo, Eggplant and Spinach
Dessert- Goats Cheese Profiterole, Thyme and Honey
Dessert- Whiskey Sour
The entrees arrive at the table. Pete has chosen the venison and Manu has chosen the snapper. Pete says he is going to be brutally honest, it is the best dish they have cooked for him for a long shot. The venison was cooked perfectly and he loved the smoked labna and the macadamias. Manu says the fish was cooked to perfection and it was the star of the plate, the broth was gorgeous but he would have loved a couple of mussels on top and the addition of a herb like tarragon would have made this dish a 10 out of 10.
The teams have waited over 3 hours for their main meals. The meals finally arrive on the table. Pete and Manu receive their dishes. Pete has chosen the Pepperberry Roo and Manu has chosen the chicken. Manu says the dish is dry. The skin is not really crispy and the breast is flavourless, the carrots are also dry and even the cauliflower rice is dry. There is not enough jus. Pete says he thinks he is sitting in the good seat tonight, its a great dish and the kangaroo was cooked well, the kangaroo tail was the highlight of the dish. Josh was unimpressed as he got a bone in his kangaroo dish.
The teams again have waited over 3 hours for their desserts. The desserts finally arrive on the table. Pete and Manu taste their desserts. Manu says the choux pastry was fresh, eggy and tiny. They do not make a dessert. Pete says his dessert did not hit the mark for him, the ice cream was made well and so was the curd but it did not work well altogether. It was ok but not perfect.
It’s time for the teams to score their meals.
