Tonight was Amy and Tyson’s turn to cook. What were their instant restaurant scores? Did they beat the highest ever score in MKR history? Another record will be broken tonight, what will it be?
Amy and Tyson are cooking Lambs Brains with Cauliflower Puree, Srirarcha Aioli and Pickles for entree. Pork Jowl with Eggplant Puree, Pumpkin Puree, Pommes Frites and Apple Cider Sauce for main. Finally, for desert, they are making Chocolate Raspberry Discovery.
Their instant restaurant is called Mosaic, an inspiring name for how they like to cook.
They get started on their brains for the entree and the ice cream for desert. The guests arrive and they don’t seem too stressed, yet. Once the judges arrive their menu is revealed. Bek and Ash are a bit concerned with having to eat brains. Tim and Kyle are excited about the menu and say it is food that they like to eat and cook however some other contestants think that it is a risky menu as the flavours may not be to everyone’s tastes.
Amy and Tyson plate up the lambs brains and take the entree out to the judges. The contestants notice the smell of the brains and some are not impressed with how they look. Pete and Manu taste the dish. Amy is worried the brains may be undercooked. Pete says the dish is a brave choice. He says the entree was sensational, he loved the creamy brains and the cauliflower puree. Manu says the dish was spot on for him. The other contestants taste the dish. Most of them enjoy the dish except David who describes it as average.
Amy and Tyson get back in to the kitchen to prepare the main dish. They blend the pumpkin puree and get onto the pommes frites however the deep fryer is not working and they are not happy with how they are cooking. Amy puts another deep fryer on while Tyson has to fry off the pork jowls but he is distracted and has burnt some. They plate the dish up but are really unhappy with it, they consider it an average dish. They take it out to the judges. Pete and Manu taste the dish. Manu says the pork jowl was out of this world. The dish was not perfect but well done. Pete loved it and says it was the best mouthful of food he’s had this competition. The other contestants enjoy the dish with the exception of David again.
It’s time for the dessert. Amy and Tyson have made marshmallows and meringues, raspberry sorbet, raspberry coulis, a chocolate ice-cream and a 40 second chocolate sponge that is cooked in the microwave. Tyson has frozen the ice-cream in a thin layer and cuts some round disks out of it but as he is cutting the disks the ice-cream starts to melt and they have to quickly put it back into the freezer.
The contestants are all sitting around the table waiting and while the other contestants tease Kyle and Bek, they manage to convince them to have a quick kiss. Back in the kitchen Amy and Tyson quickly plate the dish up and take it out to the judges. Pete says he wanted more of the dessert, the sorbet is bang on and he enjoyed the chocolate ice-cream disk. He would have loved more of the chocolate ice-cream, he says it was the star of the dish. Manu says it was a beautiful discovery, he enjoyed all the different textures, it was delicious. The other contestants taste the dish and love it. They wonder if Amy and Tyson will beat Tim and Kyle.
