Who wins the Jestar Challenge tonight? With Rose and Josh eliminated from My Kitchen Rules last night, and finals approaching, tonight’s challenge is a must win. Tonight, the teams had to take part in a Jetstar challenge. The winning dish will be served on select Jetstar flights for the next 3 months. Jac and Shaz are safe and don’t have to compete in this competition.
The tricky part of this challenge is that the dish must be cooked, then cooled for flight, then re-heated on the flight.
Here are the dishes the contestants cooked:
Will and Steve made a Seared Miso Rainbow Trout with Crunchy Salad Recipe. The trout was cooked perfectly, the salad was crunchy and it was a great dish. Both judges agreed.
Kat and Andre made a Peruvian Seared Tuna with Beans recipe. Pete asked if today was the time to be experimenting. Pete liked the tuna, it was cooked perfectly and the dressing was spot on. But the beans were pasty and the dressing wasn’t as good. You could see stress in the dish.
Ash and Camilla made a Manzo Tonnato with Asparagus recipe. The girls wanted to pick something that they wouldn’t usually serve on a plane. Unfortunately the sauce overpowered the beef. Colin said he’d had better dishes from them. Pete loved that the steak was cooked perfectly, but the sauce was too salty.
Drasko and Bianca made a Middle Eastern Lamb with Saffron Cauliflower recipe. It was sensational. Pete said it sent him on an adventure and it was the best dish they had on a plane in his life. Colin agreed and loved the cauliflower. Both judges gave this dish the dish of the day.
Emma and Jane made a Chicken Rice Paper Rolls with Nuoc Cham recipe. Jane and Emma’s dish had a good sauce, the chicken was cooked well, but it wasn’t the best they’d seen.
Eva and Debra made a Chargrilled Prawns with Pineapple Salad and Cucumber and Apple Pickle recipe. The concept of the dish was good, but the flavours were questionable. There was nothing exciting about it. Colin asked, why did they use tinned pineapple? It was too sweet.
The team who received passenger’s choice for the night was Drasko and Bianca. Their dish will be served on Jetstar flights for the next three months.
The weakest teams, and the two teams who will be facing sudden death tomorrow night are Eva and Debra and Kat and Andre.
