MKR Final Instant Restaurant Results – Eva & Debra

It is Eva and Debra’s turn at their second My Kitchen Rules instant restaurant. They need to beat Drasko & Bianca’s score of 51 from yesterday. Once again, it is two dishes per course.

Entree

Eva & Debra were very organised for entree. They were ticking items off a list one at a time. It was delivered on time.

For the first entree, Eva & Debra made a Grilled Scampi with Sambal Beans recipe. Pete had this dish, he asked if they would normally toss the scampi through the beans, they said yes. It was a critique, but he said it was “bloody delicious” and spot on, they could have just made it perfect by tossing it in with the beans rather than placing it on top.

Eva & Debra’s second instant restaurant entree is a Chinese Braised Beef Ribs recipe. Manu had this dish, he loved it, he thought it was “fantastic” and “intense in flavour”. The presentation wasn’t great, but it tasted great. Drasko & Bianca disagreed and picked out lots of problems with the dish that the others didn’t see.

Main

The first option for main course is Eva & Debra’s Steamed Barramundi with Chilli, Spring Onion and Ginger Recipe. Manu said it was very traditional, and it had good flavours but his fish wasn’t cooked long enough and half of it was under cooked.

Eva & Debra’s second instant restaurant main course was a Red Duck Curry with Lychees recipe. Pete had this dish. He said “you girls make a mean curry”. He said it was “phenomenal”. The sauce was spot on, but he thought they should have used the duck leg and cooked it in the curry, not putting it on top.

Dessert

For dessert, Eva & Debra made a Pandan Ice-Cream with Coconut Jelly and Kaffir Lime Syrup Recipe. The team had trouble with this dish. The syrup didn’t work, Pete couldn’t taste it at all. The jelly was ok, and the ice cream was ok, but the crumbs didn’t work either.

The final dish tonight was Eva & Debra’s Singaporean Sugee Cake with Orange Ice-Cream Recipe. Manu found the cake a little dry and a little overcooked. It wasn’t buttery enough, like a traditional cake. It’s not bad, but it’s not perfect. The ice cream was ok and the jam was more of a marmalade, but it worked better that way.
