For Entree, Katie and Nikki cooked a Chicken Livers with Potato Rösti and Garlic Spinach recipe. The girls made a salsa verde, but it didn’t work out, they decided to leave it off and make a mustard sauce instead. Pete said it was a bold dish to be cooking in the redemption round. He loves livers when they are cooked properly and the girls managed to cook them properly. He loved the aioli but not the rosti, it was burnt and shouldn’t have been on the plate, it was “terrible”. Manu thought the livers were cooked perfectly but was confused with everything else with lots of conflicting flavours.

For Main, the girls made a Pork Cutlet with Bacon Sauerkraut and Onion Knodel recipe. Manu said there was a lot going on on the plate, but it all made sense and liked the flavours. The pork was a little overcooked and there was a lot of rind left on the cut. Pete said they did a good interpretation of good home cooking from the German/Austrian region.

Finally, for dessert, Katie and Nikki made Kick-Ass Apple Pie with Burnt Butter Ice-Cream. Manu said it was a bold statement to call it “Kick-Ass”. He loved the burnt butter ice cream but the pastry in the pie wasn’t short enough. The apple was a bit watery, it wasn’t a bad dessert but not what he expected. Pete also said the ice cream was sensational. He didn’t like the sauce on the pie.
