Tonight it is Eva & Debra‘s My Kitchen Rules Instant Restaurant for 2015. The team from Western Australia planned an amazing sounding menu in there restaurant “Spice Market”.
For entree, Eva and Debra made Pork and Spinach Wontons in Ginger Broth. The ginger overpowered the dish and the wantons weren’t very good. Pete said “I don’t like this at all” and was looking for a lot more. Manu enjoyed the flavour of the wonton but thought the broth was “quite full on”.
For Main, Eva and Debra made Nasi Lemak with Fried Chicken.
Manu said there were things he liked on the plate and things he didn’t. He said the rice was a 10 / 10 but the greens were bland and the chicken was boring. He had high expectations but was devastated. Pete said he enjoyed the dish better than the first. He liked the Sambal flavours and said the chicken wasn’t bad but it wasn’t great.
For Dessert, the team made Pandan Crème Brûlée.
Eva and Debra debated whether they should put their planned raspberry coulis on or fresh lychees. They dropped the coulis and went for the lychees.
When the dish was brought to the judges, it had a good crack but it was burnt, not caramelised. Manu said it was quite clever to make a pandan Crème Brûlée, but technique wise it was bad. It was runny. Pete said it was a shame because it separated and all they got was scrambled eggs.
