MKR Semi Final 2014 Part 1 – Who won tonight?

Who won the first semi final tonight for MKR 2014. It is the first MKR Semi Final with Chloe and Kelly cooking against Paul and Blair. Each team will cook 3 dishes (entree, main and dessert) and the winner will make it through to the grand final on Tuesday night.

SPOILER: As we guessed, Paul and Blair have been eliminated and Chloe and Kelly have made it through. Will it be a Chloe and Kelly vs Helena and Vikki final? Probably, it would make good TV right?

Entree

For entree, Paul and Blair cooked Pink Snapper with Tomato & Lemongrass Broth. It was a “really clever” way to start a three course meal. The flavours were well balanced and the fish was cooked perfectly for some judges, but for others it was a bit raw.

Chloe and Kelly cooked Lobster with Smoked Salmon and Lotus Root. The dish looked elegant and it was a really “lux” dish fit for a semi final. The smoked salmon however overpowered the dish.

Main

Paul and Blair cooked Kangaroo Fillet with Baby Beetroot and Blueberry Sauce for main course. The Kangaroo was cooked lovely but could have been cut thinner. There were a few errors in execution. The flavours worked well together, it was a very bold dish.

For main course chloe and kelly cooked Pesce Acqua Pazza with Confit Tomatoes. The fish was cooked to perfection and was falling off the bone. It was an “awesome creation”. Cooking the fish on the bone was “confident cooking” it was a grand final dish.

Dessert

For dessert Paul and Blair cooked Espresso Parfait with Sesame Seed Wafer. The wafer had a nice crunch. It was a “truly magnificent dessert”. The parfait was a beautiful texture and it was professionally executed. The presentation was perfect and it was the highlight of this team’s menu. It took it “to another level”.

Finally, Chloe and Kelly cooked Strawberry Champagne Trifle for dessert. The dish was “very pretty” and all the flavours went well together. It was “playful”.
